This week we looked at John chapter 4 and the famous interaction between Jesus and a certain scandalous Samaritan Woman. The conversation all started over water, but Jesus puts a different spin on it as he guides the conversation:
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

This past Fall our church did a series called P90 Christian where we focused on spiritual disciplines for seven weeks. One of those sermon topics covered the spiritual discipline of fasting. I have included a portion of that message here to help guide you and inspire you to fast through this Lenten season. Here is a link to the entire message if you would like to listen instead.
My church is participateing with thousands of other Christians in the Wesleyan tradition in a study and sermon series called Ashes to Fire . It is a focused study for the entire church from Ash Wednesday through Pentecost Sunday. As a part of that I am calling our people to fast something through all of, or for even a portion of, the season of Lent.
